Willem Malan was a Lieutenant Colonel in the South African Police Service with 27 years experience. He has been involved with private investigations and polygraph examinations for the past 10 years. He regularly does examinations at all major banks, security, courier, game lodges, tracking companies, and casinos.

He has a National Diploma in Police Sciences. He received his Polygraph training from the Academy for Scientific Investigative Training, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He also did an advanced Polygraph course with the same institution.
